White Oak Sails
May 2, 2010

3 months later and she's in the water!!!!
Although we didn't mark it as the official launch because our sailboat has no sails yet, it was a maiden voyage and she did great!   We went out in 20 knot winds with some soft chop, it was probably a "small craft warning" day, but we were not deterred.  We got sprayed heavy a couple of times from crashing through the water going up wind, but it was a warm day, and we all survived.
Our friend and fellow "White Oak Boat Builder" John came with us to show the way through the narrow channel that leads to the ICW.  The river is deceptively shallow; it helped to have a guide our first time out.
The dock was a challenge that will take some getting used to.
I think we did OK, even when the keel slipped off the trailer during the haul-out!  HAAHHAA and Yikes!   The boys handled it easily and no harm done.
All in all a great trial run.
Can't wait to get out under sail - right after we make them!
